Mrs. Zora Opal Smith, 92, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Franklin County Memorial Hospital in Meadville, MS. She was born August 12, 1921, in Ackerman, MS, to William and Viola Ray Prewitt.

Mrs. Smith was one of seven children and was married to Russell "Cap" Smith on December 23, 1943, in Jackson, MS. After graduation from Draughn's Business College, she worked for the U.S. Forrest Service for 35 years. After retirement she continued to work at the Roxie Medical Clinic. She then worked for the Franklin County Memorial Hospital where she retired a second time at the age 83. She was a lifetime member of Mount Olive Methodist Church and she also attended Providence Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband: Russell Smith.

She is survived by: daughters: Winnie Ross and husband Semmes, and Margaret Sipes and husband Bill; son: Rusty Smith and wife Martha; grandchildren: Winnifred Jackson and husband Jamie, Rebecca Karns and husband Tim, Smithy Sipes and wife Allison, Jessica Jo Smith, Allan Ross and wife Lori, and Amy Jordan and husband Jay; great grandchildren: Georgia and Colton Karns; and sister: Millie Andol.
