Willard Wayne Smith, 76, of the McNair Community entered into his eternal rest on April 21, 2025.  He was born on March 13, 1949 in Natchez, MS to Willard and Irene Williams Smith.

Wayne, a National Guard Veteran, spent his life doing what he loved most, farming.  He took great pride in bailing hay with his Ford tractors.  Wayne believed in working hard, but he also believed in a long Sunday afternoon drive. Over the years he became a very talented equipment operator.  Early on, he worked for Franklin Lumber and Natchez Construction.  After many years of devoted service, he retired from R.W. Delaney Construction as a foreman.  Wayne also served a term as county supervisor for Jefferson County.

Wayne is preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 37 years, Sandra E. Smith; their infant son; and his parents.

Wayne is survived by his son, Steve (April) Smith; grandchildren: Colton (Brandi) Smith, Samantha Smith, and Tristan Smith; great-grandchildren Steven James Smith and Kaden Smith; one sister, Beverly Smith Stebbins; nephews: Elliott (Sarah) Stebbins and Brady (Beth) Stebbins.

Services for Wayne will be held Friday, April 25, 2025 at Greendale Church in Roxie, MS where he had been a lifelong member.  Visitation will begin at 10 o'clock with services at 11 o'clock. Rev. Bobby Davis and Bro. Jacob Hawley will officiate.  Interment will follow the service at Greendale Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Howard Bonds, Mike Ross, Brady Stebbins, Elliott Stebbins, Red Tiffee, and Michael Williams.  Honorary pallbearers are M.L. Bonds, Richard Freeman, Larry Rollins, and Kyle Sandifer. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Wayne can be made to Greendale Cemetery, 101 Smith Road, Roxie, MS 39661.
