Obituary

Mr. Walter Glen Whittington, 91, was called home from this life on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Franklin Memorial Hospital. Mr. Whittington was born January 9, 1924 to Mr. Cary Whittington and Mrs. Winnie Bass Whittington.

Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville, MS on Tuesday March 10, 2015 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM and continue Wednesday March 11, 2015 from 9 AM till 10:00 AM. Funeral Service will be at 11 AM at Siloam Baptist Church. The graveside service will follow in Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery in Meadville. Rev. Leon Wallace will officiate the services. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Whittington was retired from International Paper Company with thirty three years of service. He was a World War II veteran. He received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star, and World War II victory medal. He shared many stories about his travels around the globe. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time with his family. He was a member and deacon of Siloam Baptist Church.

Mr. Whittington is preceded in death by his parents, Cary Whittington and Winnie Bass Whittington; wife, Mildred Bilbo Whittington; sister, Grace Steele; brothers, Thomas Whittington and Paul Whittington.

Survivors are daughters, Ann Dillon and husband Randy of Meadville, Margaret Causey and husband Roger of Meadville, Lenora Whittington of Hammond, LA, and Maggie Whittington of Meadville; grand-children, Amanda Dillon, Stephen Causey, Brandi Causey, and great-grandson, Scott Causey. He is also survived by one brother, Morris Whittington of Decatur, AL and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers are Stephen Causey, Will Causey, John Dillard, William Clinkscales, Ryan Hall, and Lynn Bilbo.

Honorary Pallbearers are the Deacons of Siloam Baptist Church.
