Funeral services for Mrs. Verna Grace Whitfield, 89, of Meadville, MS will be on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville, MS at 10:30 AM, with burial to follow in the Midway Cemetery in Meadville, MS. Rev. Millard Moak and Rev. Tony Mullins will be officiating the services, with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and continue Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 9:30 AM until time of service at 10:30 AM.

Mrs. Whitfield passed from this life on April 1, 2018, at Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, MS. She was born on May 22, 1928 in Meadville, MS, to Mr. Pyronel R. Byrd and Mrs. Carolyn Higginbotham Byrd.

She was a faithful member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church for many years. She worked for many years as owner and operator of her flower shop in Meadville and was well known for her beautiful arrangements of flowers. She was known for her pleasant smile, friendly attitude, and loving nature.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Mr. Pyronel R. Byrd and Mrs. Carolyn Higginbotham Byrd; deceased husband, Thomas Hutto, deceased husband, Ed Bowlin; one sister, Wanda Byrd Adams; brothers, Edgar Ray "Pete" Byrd and John Leslie Byrd.

Survivors are her husband of 30 years, Winston Whitfield; one daughter, Kaye Thompson and husband Brad of Fulshear, TX; two sons, Tommy Hutto and wife Renee of Hattiesburg, MS, Craig Hutto and wife Siu Ha "Yoyo" of Katy, TX; one brother, Forrest Byrd of Vidalia, LA and five grandchildren along with many friends.

Pallbearers are, Thomas Hutto, Patrick Hutto, Cole Thompson, Gary Byrd, Mike Byrd, and Robert Adams.

Honorary Pallbearer is grandson, Jarrett Hutto.
