Mrs. Vera Smith, 85, of Meadville, MS, entered peacefully and fully in the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at her home.  Visitation will be held at Franklin Funeral Home on Friday, May 6th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and resume Saturday May 7, 2020 from 9:00 AM until time of service at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the service at Midway Cemetery in Meadville, MS.  Rev. Mike Morris, Rev. Trent Moak, and Rev. Matt Blackwell will officiate the services.

Mrs. Smith was born on January 28, 1937, to the late Lewis E. "Dubber" Byrd and the late Willie Flowers Byrd Scott. While she will be missed by many, we are thankful that she is again in the arms of her beloved husband, Bobby R. Smith, who passed away in 2013 after 59 years of marriage. She was an active member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church where she lovingly served in many capacities including Sunday School teacher.

Mrs. Smith retired from Franklin Telephone Company after 28 years of service.

Although childless, she was a mother to many.  Her kind and loving spirit made people flock to her.  She took every opportunity to guide people to Jesus.

Surviving her are her first cousins and caregiver Edward Flowers (Sr.) and wife Deborah, Edward "Bubba" Flowers (Jr.) and wife Leslie, and Angel Smith Davis; Special Friend Winnie Scott; brother-in-law Ben Smith and wife Jean; sisters-in-law: Bobbie Smith; Special Nephew Chris Smith and many cousins' nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers are Neal Murray, Johnny Scott, Bill Scott, Cody Butler, Shane Arnold, and Glen Richardson.
