Thomas David Rushing, 66, of Meadville, MS went to be with the Lord and entered into his heavenly home on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Promise Hospital in Vicksburg, MS. Funeral services will be Sunday, July 18, at Franklin Funeral Home with visitation from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. and a Celebration of Life service to follow at 2:00 PM at Franklin Funeral Home with the Pastor Bascom Sills officiating. His burial service will follow at Adams Hegan Pate Cemetery in Meadville, MS.

Pallbearers are Alan Rushing, Bobby Harrell, Johnny Holmes, Greg Roberts, Scott Magee, and Lynn Oglesby.

Honorary pallbearers are Kolby Cox, Will Cox, Conn McCalip, Caleb Fairley, Ryan Rushing, Tucker Roberts, Conner Harrell, Steven Trude, Danny Oglesby, William Keith and Dru Godfrey.

David was born in Natchez, MS and a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, class of 1973, as well as the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in education. He worked for Franklin Timber Company for many years and worked as a teacher at multiple schools. He was an avid outdoorsman, firearm enthusiast, and animal lover.

David is preceded in death by his parents George Washington Rushing and Lois Pate Rushing and his sisters Marie Harrell and Joyce Ann Holmes.

He is survived by his son Jason Rushing, daughter Amy Cox (Ashley), his brother George Alton Rushing (Elizabeth), grandsons, Kolby Cox and Will Cox, the mother of his children, Louise Finley, and many beloved nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations may be made to any local humane society.
