Sandra Faye Mullins Harrell Pritchard, known as ‘Sandi,’ to those who knew her, was born to Fanny MarieHarrigill Mullins and Charles Thomas Mullins in Adams County Mississippi. She was the oldest child of six(Charlotte, Barbara, David, Joyce, and Connie). For most of her life she called Franklin County home. After anextended illness she passed peacefully in her sleep on Lord’s Day, Sunday October 25 at PAM Acute Care Hospital, in Hammond, LA.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, David Gerald Pritchard Sr., her mother-in-law Pat Pritchard, her four children: Willie C. Harrell Jr. (Melanie Priest), Michael Paul Harrell (Connie Nations), Carmen Harrell Wilkinson (Dudley), and David Gerald Pritchard Jr. (Janna Cater). She was a grandmother to Triston D. Wilkinson (Shazz), Sebastian Len Harrell (Sarah Vaughn), Landon Harrell (Raven), Ayden Harrell, and Parker Wilkinson, and Taive Nations (Allie). Furthermore, she was a grandmother to Noah and Isabelle Clem. She had five great grandchildren Nallah Skye Jolyn Wilkinson, Everett Harrell, Abel and Kai Nations, and Riley Roberts. There is one great grandbaby awaiting arrival in February, baby Summer Raylyn Harrell (Landon & Raven).
Lastly, she held a special place in her heart for Taylor Philebar (Parker’s girlfriend). Reflecting upon Sandi’s life she enjoyed writing, singing, painting, sketching, fishing, camping, and spending time with those she loved. She liked a good cup of coffee, a bonfire, bowling, classical music, fried oysters, diet coke, Chinese food, and held a deep appreciation for poetry. She liked the movies Steal Magnolias, E.T., and Star Wars. Sandi loved the wind in her hair, the beach with sand in her toes, and among many other things she held a special fondness for the mountains. She liked star gazing and listening to the crickets on a warm summer night. She loved her special four-legged friend, “Girl,” who was her dog. One of her favorite quotes was, “I can stretch a chicken into next week.” It meant that she would take whatever God blessed her with and use it resourcefully. She looked at things from a unique perspective and shared her heart through her creative expression. She has painted and sketched her entire life. Sandi truly was an artist. She loved soft watercolors, oils, charcoal, pen and ink, pens, pencils, crayons, etc. She believed the quote by Seneca, “Ars Longa Vita Brevis” which means, “Art is Long Life is brief.”
Furthermore, in grade school she broke her best friend Annie Pearl Sumrall from biting her fingernails by applying red pepper to them and having Annie bite them. She never used the antidote on herself but as she aged, she did enjoy her nails being painted vibrant colors. Sandi was a hard-working woman who had several careers. She worked for The Sisters of Mercy Hospital, Natchez Regional, Copiah Lincoln Community College, Meadville Hospital, The Department of Human Services, and Southwest MS Regional Medical Center. With that said, her greatest legacy is her four children whom she dearly loved, and they made her extra proud. She really enjoyed spending time with the grands during visits. Percy Sledge was one of her favorite musicians. Throughout Sandi’s life she won awards for various writings and held several art exhibits. She went back to school in her early 40’s and got an associate’s degree in Hotel Restaurant Management in 1995 at Colin’s Natchez Campus.
Next, during her Golden years she enjoyed outings to local restaurants, playing Bingo (winning swag bucks), and attending resident council meetings at Trend Nursing Home in Brookhaven, Mississippi. Sandi loved the Lord deeply. She taught her children to pray at an early age. Before leaving this earth her only desire was for all four of her children to, “Be Happy “and live life. She let them know she would miss them dearly. Her birthday would have been on Friday October 30th. When Michael asked what she wanted for her birthday she responded, “To be in Heaven.” Jesus is, was, and will always be the Lord of Her life.
Lastly, Sandi was Preceded in death by both of her parents Charles and Marie Mullins, Her Aunt Carmon Mullins, Cousin Buddy Mullins, Her baby sister Connie Mullins, and two beautiful granddaughters, Katie Lynn Farr and Dallas LaShay Pritchard as well as her father-in-law D.T. Pritchard, her own grandparents Effie and Paul Henry Harrigill and Lola and Harrison Mullins.
Sandi was able to visit with her husband Gerald and all four of her children and daughter in law Janna, on Friday before slipping off to Heaven on early Sunday morning. The last day spent with those she loved she was able to share what she held in her beautiful heart. She was ready to go home. She had love and joy and even a few laughs before leaving this earth. The best way to honor those who make it to Heaven before we do is to live.
