Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Sam F. Osborne will be on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Sarepta Baptist Church in Meadville, MS at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow in the

Sarepta Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev Steve Sasser and Rev. Eric Moak will be officiating the services, with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Sarepta Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 9:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM.

Mr. Osborne, 82, of Fayette, MS, passed from this life on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Franklin County Memorial Hospital.  He was born October 15, 1941 in Jefferson County MS, to Mr. Sam S. Osborne and Mrs. Madie Lee Cupit Osborne.

He enjoyed watching football, hunting, fishing and loved eating Blue Bell ice cream. He was well known for his one-liners.

He proudly served our nation in the United States Navy and faithfully attended Sarepta Baptist Church.  He was a loving husband, brother, step-father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Sam and Madie Lee Cupit Osborne; brother, Phillip Osborne and wife Mary Osborne and sister, Ruth Osborne Henley and husband Laverne Henley; brother-in-law, Mike Smith.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara Childers Osborne; step daughter, Tammy Renee Thompson of Roxie, MS; step son,  Jerry "Sonny" Thompson, Jr (Cathy) of Roxie, MS; brother, Herman Osborne (Linda); sisters, Verna Osborne Smith (Dale), Lloyd Deane Osborne Smith; grandchildren, Heather Havard (Jess) of Natchitoches, LA, Cade Havard (Erica) of Roxie, MS, Shelby Jones (Dylon) of Lubbock, TX, Trey Thompson (Star) of Lloyd Star, MS, Christopher Thompson of Roxie, MS; great grandchildren, Millie Jones, Haylan Jones, Daxton Lambert, Rylee Havard, Stella Thompson, Hensley Thompson and Addie Thompson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers are Trey Thompson, Rodney Henley, Cade Havard, Matt Smith, Bill Arnold and Jimmy Coldiron.

Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Buie, Hugh McCaa, Billy King, Butch Emfinger, Larry Teekle.
