Ruthie M. Havard Shiers, 77, of Natchez, MS, died Monday, February 3, 2014 at the Crown Health and Rehab in Natchez, MS. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and continue on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM at Franklin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery in Vicksburg, MS. Bro. Carl Smith will officiate the services. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers are: Marty Jackson, Lindsey Jackson, Ryan Smith, Todd Thompson, and Byron Carnett.

Mrs. Shiers was born January 22, 1937 in Franklin County, MS to William Wallace and Eva Graves Havard. She was a member of Washington Baptist Church in Natchez, MS. She worked for many years as a self-employed housecleaning service. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Rochester "Chester" Shiers; brothers: Jimmy Havard and Wayne Havard; and son-in-law: Donald Clyde Smith.

Survivors are her daughter: Brenda Smith of Brookhaven, MS; son: Billy Wilson and wife Janice of Meadville, MS; stepson: Chet Shiers and wife Donna of McComb, MS; stepdaughters: Cheri Shiers of Byram, MS, and Cindy Shiers of Byram, MS; sisters: Barbara Corkern and Betty Smith both of Wesson, MS; brother: Willie Havard and wife Jo of Roxie, MS, and Hilton Havard and wife Dee of Summit, MS; step-brother: Hershel Humes of Kingston, MS; grandchildren: Marty Jackson and wife Angie, Lindsey Jackson and wife Leila, Lacey Smith and husband Ryan, and Emily Leonard; step-grandchildren: Todd Thompson and Justin Thompson and wife Leslie, Joel Shiers, Amber Shiers, Christin Phillips, and Melissa Phillips; great-grandchildren: 10; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
