Funeral services for Mr. Roy Shell Jr., of Knoxville, MS will be on Sunday, July 1, 2018, at Springhill Baptist Church in Knoxville, MS at 2:00 PM, with burial to follow in the church Cemetery. Rev. Mike Carraway will be officiating the services, with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Springhill Baptist Church on Saturday, June 29, 2018, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and resume Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 1:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM.
Mr. Shell 80, passed from this life on Friday, June 30, 2018, at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born on December 5, 1937 in Knoxville, MS to Mr. Roy Shell Sr. and Mrs. Allie Irene Havard Shell.
He was of the Methodist faith but faithfully attended Springhill Baptist Church, served his county in the United States Army, served Franklin County as a Deputy Sheriff, retired as police officer with 20 years of service from the City of Jackson, and served as Firearm Training Officer for Angola Prison. He enjoyed the community of Knoxville where he lived, hunted, fished, and fellowshiped with his many friends. He always had a kind word to share with anyone he met. He was lovingly devoted to his wife, church and family.
Preceding him in death were his parents and son, Christopher Alan Shell.
Survivors are his wife of 56 years, Mrs. Loretta Shell; daughter, Jennifer Shell Wallace of Knoxville, MS; son, Ty Shell and wife Sandy of Meadville, MS; daughter in law, Dana Keyes Shell of Knoxville, MS; brother, Wilber Shell and wife Nancy of Brookhaven; sisters, Elizabeth Griffin of Knoxville, MS, Linda Carraway and husband Mike of Knoxville, MS; grandchildren, Miranda Shell Jones, Christopher Kade Shell, Sarah Elizabeth Stebbins, Christian Hope Shell, Justin Allen Emfinger, Joshua Paul Wallace; great grandchildren, Warren Bentley Stebbins, Sarah Brooke Stebbins and Isabella Nicole Jones.
Pallbearers are, Matt Shell, Mike Shell, Chad Griffin, Brad Griffin, Michael Carraway Jr., and Nick Jones.
Honorary pallbearers are, James Newman, Roger Causey, Brady Stebbins and Tristan Beach.
The family request memorials be made in his name to: Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at 430 Freewoods Road SW, Roxie, MS 39661.
