Patty Sue Blasingame Hancock, aged 88, of Meadville, MS passed away on Sunday, August 09, 2020 at Highland Home in Ridgeland, MS. Patty was born on July 15, 1932 in Water Valley, MS to Cletus Ezra Blasingame and Lucille Clark Blasingame formerly of Bude, MS. She had one sibling Cletus "Sonny" Blasingame of Asheville, NC. Patty was a graduate of East Feliciana High School in Jackson, LA and Copiah-Lincoln Community College. After attending school she was married to Wathan "Tyrea" Hancock and had two children, Valerie Sue Hancock and Christian Todd Hancock.
Early in her career Patty worked clerical jobs at the Roxie Saw Mill and at C&C Motors in Meadville. She spent the later portion of her working career as an educator at Franklin County Elementary until her retirement in 1990. In the retirement years Patty enjoyed working at Meadville Baptist Church and the Franklin Baptist Association Thrift Store in Bude, MS.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Cletus and Lucille Blasingame, her brother Cletus "Sonny" Blasingame and his wife Verona Jean Blasingame of Asheville, North Carolina and her husband Tyrea Hancock.
She is survived by her children Valerie Hancock of Ridgeland, MS, Todd Hancock and wife Brandi of Ragley, LA, grandchildren Kiley and Khloe Hancock of Ragley, LA, her nephews David C. Blasingame and wife Veronica of Leicester, NC and Steve Hancock of Natchez, MS and nieces Robbie Headrick and husband Kent of Foley, AL, and Connie Scott and husband William of Dardanelle, AR.
Services will be grave side at Midway Cemetery in Meadville, MS on August 15, 2020 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Meadville Baptist Church (80 Edison St, Meadville, MS 39653 or 601-384-5215) in memory of Patty Hancock. Social distancing guidelines will be observed.
Special thanks go to the numerous neighbors, family and friends (Chuck McMinn, Gene and Mary Ward and Phyllis Whittington), Highland Home of Ridgeland, MS and numerous sitters whose attention during her declining years gave her as much quality of life as possible
