Ollie Jean McManus Strother, 82, of McCall Creek, MS (formerly of Pensacola, FL) passed from this life on December 4, 2014 at Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 from 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Smithdale, MS. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Marvin Howard will be officiating the services. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Strother was born March 1, 1932 in Shelby County, AL to Oliver Lewis and Annie Sperman McManus. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was a retired realtor. She loved her family and spending time with them. She also loved to crochet. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver Lewis and Annie Sperman McManus; husband, George W. Strother; brothers, Burlin McManus and Chester McManus; and sisters, Lorene Bailey, Obera Pruitt, Annie May Bonner and Patricia McManus; grandchild, Stephen Andrew Strother and Mitchell Elijah Magaha.
Survivors are her daughters, Pam Strother of Pensacola, FL, and Marla Strother Magaha and husband Wendell of Elberta, AL; sons, Gary Strother and wife Rosanna of Atlanta, GA, and Mark Strother and wife Denise of McCall Creek, MS; sisters, Voncile King, Sarah Kendrick and Linda Ann Hoagland; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
