Funeral services for Mr. Oliver C. Jones Jr. will be on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at Hopewell Baptist Church in Bude, MS at 11 AM, with burial to follow in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Tony Mullins and Rev. Rick Mann will be officiating the services, with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and resume at Hopewell Baptist Church on Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM.

Mr. Jones, 97, of Bude, MS passed from this life on Thursday, November 14, 2019, at his residence. He was born on September 25, 1922 in Monroe, MS to Mr. Oliver C. Jones Sr. and Mrs. Velma Hutto Jones.

Mr. Oliver served his county in the United States Marine Corp during World War II, in the Pacific Theater.  He was a successful business man having worked for many years for the O.V. Clements Lumber Company in Bude, MS. He also owned and operated Jones Oil Company in Bude and managed a successful cattle operation on his farm in Monroe, Ms. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Bude, MS where he served for many years as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He loved people and always had an encouraging word and Godly direction for all who spoke with him. He was faithful to and provided for his loving wife, Berniece until her death in 2005. He was a man that had a positive influence over the many lives he touched. He will be missed.

Preceding him in death were his parents Oliver Sr. and Velma Jones; wife, Mildred Berniece Jones and one brother, Harris Jones.

Survivors are his son, Larry Jones and wife Pat of Meadville, MS; grandchildren; Ty Jones and wife Melanie of Flora, MS, Cory and wife Marty of Jackson, MS; great granddaughter, Hannah Katherine Jones; nieces, Wanda Jones Sturm, Lisa Coleman Mulloy; nephews, Alan Jones, Michael Coleman and Shane Coleman.

Pallbearers are Ty Jones, Cory Jones, James Hutto, James Michael Martin, Greg Duncan, and Alan Jones.

Honorary pallbearers are Gary Hurst, Michael Sturm, Tyler Foster, Kaden Foster, Pat Larkin, Bruick Larkin, Gary Buckels, and Jimmy Jones.
