Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Ashley, 83, of Meadville, MS will be on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville, MS at 10 AM, with burial to follow in the Union Church Cemetery in Union Church, MS. Rev. Tony Mullins will be officiating the services, with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home on Monday, November 19, 2018, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and continue Tuesday from 9:00 AM until time of service at 10:00 AM.

Mrs. Nell, as her family and friends called her, passed from this life on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Merit Health in Natchez, MS.  She was born on June 18, 1935 to Mr. Bonnie M. Maher, Sr. and Mrs. Alma L. Smith Maher.

She was a long standing member of Meadville Baptist Church. She was a member of the "Pine Burr Garden Club. She retired from Bell South Telephone and also Franklin County Memorial Hospital. She loved taking care of her flowers and was known to have a "green thumb. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Bonnie Maher, Sr. and Alma Maher; two sisters Mildred Maher and Audrey Brown along with two brother, P.W. Maher and Bonnie Maher, Jr.

Survivors are her daughters, Beth Wilson and husband Jimmy of Meadville, Melissa West and husband Steve of Meadville; son Herman Aldridge and wife Jonnie of Meadville; sister, Louise Southerland Steen and husband Gene of Lorman, MS; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Matt Wilson, Tim Brown, Jeff Maher, Logan Aldridge, Russel Brown, and Tony Maher.

Honorary Pallbearers are Paul Southerland, Ricky Brown, and David Southerland.

The family request memorials be made in her name to:  Meadville Nursing Home Activity Fund, 300 Hwy 556, and Meadville, MS.
