Obituary

Mrs. Mary Y. Bonds, 86 of Roxie Ms. was called home from this life on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Meadville Convalescent Home. Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home on Thursday January 8, 2015 from 5:00 PM till 8 PM and continue Friday January 9, 2015 from 10:00 AM till time of service at 11:00 AM at Franklin Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery at Hamburg, MS. Rev. Jamie Wallace and Rev. Thomas Bonds officiating the services. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Bonds was born March 2, 1928 in Clinton, MS to Prentiss Hiram Young and Gillie McGehee Young. She was a member of the Roxie Baptist Church in Roxie, MS. She was employed as a lifetime homemaker.
Mrs. Bonds loved to cook and share her recipes with all she met. She was well known for her "tea cakes" and "pound cakes". She loved to crochet and handmade quilts. She will be deeply missed. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother that loved her family deeply.
Mrs. Bonds was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Martin L. Bonds, three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors are her sons, William Bonds (Gloria Jean) of Roxie, M.L. Bonds Jr. (Betty Jean) of Roxie, Thomas Bonds (Teresa) of Anniston, Alabama, and Harold Dean (Bo) Bonds of Brandon, MS; daughter, Mary Katherine Day (Kenneth) of Montgomery City, MO; eleven grandchildren, twenty four great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Estalena Nevels of Delhi, LA and Emma Gene Havard of Roxie, MS, one brother, Calvin Young of Fayette, MS along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers are Buster Bonds, Kevin Bonds, Craig Day, Dusty Davis, Dallas Aldridge, and Gerald Bonds Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers are Kenneth Davis, Patrick Davis, James Cruze, Raymond Smith, and Ken Davis.
