Martha B. Buckels, 85, of Jefferson County, MS, passed from this life on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Meadville Convalescent Home in Meadville, MS. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Bethesda Baptist Church in Jefferson County. The graveside service will follow at Fayette Cemetery. Bro. Burt Brown will officiate the services. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers are Phillip Williams, Luke Williams, Leon Bennett, Josh Smith, Robby Swearingen, and Adam Purser. Honorary pallbearers are Hugh Brown, Bobby Stubbs and Rayford Smith.

Mrs. Buckels was born October 29, 1928 in Jefferson County, MS to Angus McNair and Thelma Lou Curtis Brown. She was a member of Fayette Baptist Church and also attended Bethesda Baptist Church. She loved to visit with her family who she loved deeply. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Angus McNair and Thelma Lou Curtis Brown; husband, John Morgan Buckles; son, John Bennett Buckels; grandson, Little Joe Smith; great grandson, Riley Joe Smith; and brothers, Doc Brown, Jr.

Survivors are her daughter, Marilyn Buckels Smith and husband Joe K. of Jefferson County; son, Larry Buckels of Jefferson County; sister, Mary Brown Bush and Nell Brown Smith; brothers, Hugh Brown and Bobby Stubbs; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
