Funeral services for Mrs. Marilyn Smith will be on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Bethesda Baptist Church in Fayette, MS at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow in the Ephesus Church Cemetery in Fayette, MS. Rev. Al Weeks will be officiating the services, with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Bethesda Baptist Church on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 9:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM.
Mrs. Smith, 68, of Fayette, MS passed from this life on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at her residence in Jefferson, County. She was born on February 14, 1951 in Natchez, MS, to Mr. John Morgan Buckels and Mrs. Martha Brown Buckels.
She enjoyed caring for her babies at Little Blessings Day Care where she spent 23 years loving the kids as if they were her own. She enjoyed working in her yard and caring for her flowers and lawn decorations. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to spend time riding around the family farm with her beloved husband. She was an avid shopper that could see a bargain a mile away. She was a loyal Ole Miss Rebel fan.
Preceding her in death were her parents, John Morgan Buckels and Martha Brown Buckels; brothers, John Bennett Buckels and Larry Buckels; infant son Joe K. Smith Jr. and infant grandson, Riley Joe Smith.
Survivors are her husband of 53 years, Joe Smith; daughters, Wendy Williams and husband Phillip of Fayette, MS, Kelly Swearingen and husband Robby of Oxford, MS, Felicia Smith of Fayette, MS; grandchildren, Luke Williams, Ramie Williams, Chase Bennett, Chelsea Bennett, Kaylee Smith, Hunter Smith; great grandchildren, Charlotte Bennett, Emma Bennett, and Savannah Williams along with a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers are Brice McWilliams, Josh Smith, Adam Purser, Luke Williams, Chase Bennett, Phillip Williams, and Robby Swearingen.
