Mrs. Marian Cowart King, 89, was called into the presence of the Lord on Monday, March 30, 2015 at her home in Meadville, MS. Mrs. King was born in Meadville, MS, on January 11, 1926 to Charles Franklin and Mary Whitehead Cowart.
Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 5:00 PM till 9:00 PM and continue Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 1:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM at Franklin Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow in Midway Cemetery. Rev. Randy Youngblood will officiate the services. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. King was self employed for most of her life. She was owner and successful operator of a number of small businesses in Southwest, MS. Prior to her business endeavors, she served her country as a civilian welder at the coastal ship yards during World War II and was a waiter at the famous Peabody Hotel in Memphis, TN. She served Franklin County for many years as an election commissioner. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-great grandmother that loved her family and poured her heart into caring for their well being.
Mrs. King is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Franklin and Mary Whitehead Cowart; husband, Richard George King Sr.; daughters, Linda Sullivan and Carol Zumbro; sister, Margaret Ashley and grandsons, Richard George King III and Bill Buchel.
Survivors are her son, Richard George King Jr. and wife Tammy; daughters, Frankie King and Keith Young, Johnnie King Darby and husband Mike, Donna Kay King and Keith Smith, and Jo Buchel along with sister, Alice Zumbro; grandchildren, Bill Daniels, Carol Buchel, Heather King Priest, Rachel M. Williams, Jeff Johnson, Bo and Joey Sullivan, Michael and Richie Darby, Mandy Darby Christopher, Austin Peeples, Tim, Holly and Lauren Sturdivant; great-great grandchildren, Jordan M. King, Ava, Livi, and Jax Priest, Braelyn Patterson, Dylan Case, Kaylee Ezell, Brayden and Elese Williams, Corey Daniels, Tiffany Long, Lyndsay Watson and Kassity Johnson; special friends, Mozell Keys and Della Mae Harris; and a host of great, great, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers are Michael Darby, Richie Darby, Austin Peeples, Timothy Sturdivant, Dylan Case and Ingram Prichard.
Honorary Pallbearers are Glen Zumbro, Ed Zumbro, Joey Sullivan, Bo Sullivan, Bill Daniels, Jeff Johnson, Samac Richardson and Bill Walker.
The family extends a special "Thank You" to Dr. Ben Yarbrough, Hospice Advantage and Sta-Home Home Health and her multiple caregivers over the years.
