Obituary

Marguerite Impson King of Meadville was called into the presence of the Lord at Aston Court in McComb on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at 95 years of age.

She was born on February 15, 1920, the fifth child of the late Hugh Bateman Impson and Martha Eliza Purvis. She was predeceased by her husband, Norwood "Teenie" King, as well as all her brothers and sisters: Bonnie Bell Impson Craft, Ray Ellis Impson, Donnis Impson Madison, Marion Devaul Impson, Maxie Irene Impson Kent, Huge Bateman Impson, Jr., and Mattie Zuleika Impson Smith.

Mrs. King is survived by her children, Beverly Ann King Hill, Coleen "Cooker" Marguerite King Byrd and Phillip Wayne King. She was the grandmother of Tandis Corrine Byrd, Tim "Trey" M. Hill III, Meredith Corban Hill Crain and Jason Phillip King; Great-grandmother of Amanda Margaret Hill, Emily Dyanne Hill, Andrew Norman Crain, Meredith Ann Crain and Benjamin Hill Crain.

She graduated from Bude High School and attended Pearl River Community College on a basketball scholarship. Intelligent and hardworking, she held a variety of jobs: at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula during World War II; in Meadville, a bookkeeper for the Chevrolet dealership, teller for The Bank of Franklin, Nursing Home Administrator, and was a two-term Franklin County Chancery Clerk.

Visitation will be at Meadville Baptist Church on Friday May 1, 2015 from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM at Meadville Baptist Church. Private burial will take place at a later date. Rev. Matt Alexander will officiate the service. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
