Margaret Ann Bennett Chatham, 93, passed away in Meadville, MS on November 16, 2025.  She was born February 3, 1932 to Charles Elma and Emma Crosby Bennett in Greenwood, MS.  She was married to L. B. Chatham, Jr., known by many as B, for twenty-seven years.  They moved a number of times because of his job as a coach and high school principal.  She lived in Meadville when he died in an automobile accident in 1978.  She was preceded in death by B, her parents, son-in-law David Kelly, and granddaughter Reva Chatham.

Margaret Ann attended school in Grenada, MS. She was in the Drama Club, Class Secretary, Treasurer, on the school newspaper and annual staff, football sponsor and in the senior play.  Margaret Ann was voted into the Grenada High School Hall of Fame and selected as Miss Grenada High School her senior year.  The American Legion sponsored her for Girls State her junior year, but it was cancelled due to an outbreak of polio.

Margaret Ann attended Delta State University for one year, married B, and then worked in Memphis, TN while he served his country in the military.  After that, she was busy being a wife and mother to her four precious children.  Her home was always open to the school kids because they usually lived on campus, but especially to her children's friends.

After moving to Meadville in 1973 Margaret Ann worked as a secretary at the high school for five years and for the Mississippi Forestry Commission as a clerk for sixteen years.  She retired at 65.  During these years she was an active member of the Meadville Methodist Church where she took an active part in the Jolly Elders.  The Jolly Elders group was near and dear to her heart and she always enjoyed acting in the Christmas play each year for the community.

She is survived by her four children, B Chatham, III (Debbie) of Burnsville, MS, Cynthia Ann Kelly, Laura Ellen Purser (Douglas), and Susan Claire Gabbert (Bubba) all of Meadville.
