Obituary

Marcaline Temple, 95 of Meadville, MS passed away quietly in her sleep on November 24, 2019. She has now been reunited with the love of her life. Born September 16, 1924, in Richton, Mississippi to J.W. and Lydia Freeman, Marcaline was the third of five children.

She met her future husband, J.C. Temple, while working as a ticket seller at the theatre in Bude, Mississippi. They were married on June 15, 1944. She was an exceptional seamstress and craftswoman. Marcaline made clothes for her daughters and granddaughter. She made beautiful quilts and crocheted many baby blankets. She loved to work in the yard, growing many of her own vegetables, tons of blueberries (which she used to make the best pies), and a plethora of flowers. She was also known to do canning of some amazing jellies and sweet pickles. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband until his passing at the age of 88.

Marcaline was predeceased by her parents, J.W. and Lydia Freeman; a brother, Paul Freeman; three sisters, Ernestine Norton, Bernadine McManus, and Benny Sue Roland; her husband, James Charles Temple; her daughter, Peggy Jane Jones; and grandson, Andrew Jones.

Marcaline is survived by her daughter, Lydia Buttross, and son-in-law, Robert, of Hemphill, Texas; her daughter Mary Childs, and son-in-law, Mike, of Crossville, Tennessee; her son-in-law, Lemuel Jones, of McCall Creek, Mississippi; her granddaughter, Leanne Buttross, of Corpus Christi, Texas; and her grandson, Christopher Jones, of McCall Creek, Mississippi.

Visitation will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at Franklin Funeral Home, located at 291 Main Street East in Meadville, Mississippi. Funeral will follow at 12:00 p.m.  Rev. Rex Wilburn will officiate the services. Following the funeral, burial will take place at Midway Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Buttross, Mike Childs, Lemuel Jones, Chris Jones, Ed Norton and David Temple.
