Funeral services for Ms. Lula Ellen Cowart will be on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville, MS at 3:00 PM, with burial to follow in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in McCall Creek, MS. Rev. Matt Emfinger will be officiating the services, with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 1:30 PM until time of service at 3:00 PM.

Ms. Cowart, 95, of Smithdale, MS, passed from this life on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Camellia Estates Nursing Home in McComb, MS. She was born on December 23, 1922 to Mr. William Henderson "Doc" Cowart, Jr and Mrs. Ruby Ray Burris Cowart.

She worked for General Electric in Jackson, MS until her retirement around 1984. She enjoyed reaching out to help people to fill the needs of other suffering from health problems. She loved to travel and also bake homemade coconut pound cakes to give to her friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, William Henderson "Doc" Cowart, Jr. and Ruby Ray Burris Cowart; two sisters, Vernell Cowart Smith, and Lourine Cowart McGehee; brothers, Willie Ray Cowart and an infant brother, and nephew Oscar Allen Cowart.

Survivors are her sister, Mavis Cowart Young; nieces and nephews, W.H. Cowart, Pollard Cowart, Ella Weeze Cowart Musgrove, Joyce McGehee Williams, Wilda McGehee Temple, Margy McGehee Rushing, Ward McGehee, Gwyn Young, Travis Young, Keith Young, Terry Young, Deron Smith, Alisa Smith Clarke, and a host of great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews along with many other family and friends.
