Louis Lytel
“Buddy” Lisk
January 12, 1934 – December 19, 2025
Louis Lytel Lisk was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Raymond L. Lisk and Norvel Cupit Lisk Cavin. Buddy was raised in McCall Creek Mississippi on the Cupit Family farm and Homestead where he lived with his grandmother and sisters and uncles.
He developed a strong passion for raising Coon Hunting Dogs and going Coon hunting as often as possible with Uncles, cousins and lifelong friends.
He went to school in McCall Creek and graduated in 1952.
He Married soon after graduation to Lynn Roberts who was his lifelong partner in life until her death in 2012.
Shortly after marriage, he worked along with his Stepfather as a carpenter in Baton Rouge La. , until he joined the United States Army in 1956.
While serving Buddy was fortunate enough to have his Grandmother ,Mary Rachel Cupit care for his Coon dogs until his discharge.
He served for two years stationed in the US and in Germany .
He achieved the rank on Private 1st Class and remained in the reserves until 1962.
After being discharged ,Buddy and Lynn moved back to Louisiana where he continued in the trade as a Carpenter.
Besides making a living as a carpenter, Buddy would spend much of his time raising and training coon dogs. He and Lynn lived their life visiting with friends and hunters who shared his same passions.
Age and Health issues required Buddy to do less work as a carpenter and help Lynn with her medical care and fit in some more hunting in various Hunting Clubs in the Southwest Mississippi area.
After Lynn passed, Buddy resided on the property of his youth in McCall Creek Ms. Here he continued his hunting and maintaining the many friendships that he made over the years.
Buddys Health declined to where he needed around the clock care which he received at The Veterans Home in Jackson La.
Buddy was preceded in death By his Wife, Lynn Lisk, grandmother, Mary Rachel Cupit, Mother and stepfather, Norvell & Albert Cavin, sisters, Carolyn Cavin Creighten, Faye Cavin Franklin, Sandra Cavin Guillory, MaryJo Cavin Tuccio, Patricia Lisk Harrison, brother, Norman Cavin. Buddy is survived by a sister, Barbara Lisk Montet and a brother, Michael Cavin, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.
Visitation will be held at New Salem Baptist Church in McCall Creek, Mississippi on Saturday, January 3, 2026 from 11-1 and burial to follow in the church cemetery.
