Ms. Thomas, 77, of Bude, MS passed from this life on January 27, 2025 at Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS. She was born on October 28, 1947 in Franklin County to Mr. Curtis Thomas and Mrs. Maggie Lee Cannon Thomas.
Lona was a lifelong educator and school administrator where she served the students of our county for 38 years. She was a lifelong member of Springhill Baptist Church in Knoxville, MS. She attended the University of Southern Mississippi where she earned her under graduate and graduate degrees. She loved to travel and was co-owner of "The Pottery Place" in Monroe, MS.
Preceding her in death were her parents; Curtis and Maggie Thomas; brother, James "Jim" Thomas and nephew, Shelley Brown, Jr.
Survivors are her sisters; Mary Kathryn Larkin and husband Dr. Bill Larkin and Sarah Benoit and husband Bob along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Pallbearers are Dan McKinney, Roscoe Thomas, Thomas Larkin, Kail Jordon, James Hollis Smith and Devery Brown.
Honorary pallbearers are Clint Gouch, Colby Welch, Joseph Brocato, Jim Smith, Vance Windom, Tyson Windom, Cole Thomas and Art Thomas.
Memorial can be made in Lona's name to Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery fund at 430 Freewoods Rd. SW, Roxie MS, 39661.
