Mr. Lester Stroud, 85, of Meadville, MS died Monday, October 7, 2013, at his home in Meadville, MS, after a long illness. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, from 5:00 P M until 9:00 P M and resume Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at 10:00 AM until the time of the services at 11:00 AM at Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church's cemetery. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers include: Mike Stroud, Johnny Monroe, Nick Stroud, Gabe Monroe, Jacob Stroud, and Barry Cotten. Honorary pallbearers are: Jeff Bein, David Cothren, Gary Cothren, and Clem Steele.


Mr. Stroud was born May 13, 1928, in Franklin County, MS, to James D. and Inez Flowers Stroud. He led an active life until recent years as an outdoorsman and serving others in his community and church. He was a retired Maintenance Director for Franklin County Memorial Hospital in Meadville, MS. He was a member and deacon at Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.


He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Jimmy Stroud, Roy Stroud, and Jerry Stroud; and granddaughter: Bettina Stroud.


Survivors are his wife of 66 years: Billie Rose Stroud of Meadville; son: Mike Stroud and wife Sharlene of Brandon, MS; daughter: Patti Stroud Monroe and husband Johnny of Meadville, MS; grandchildren: Mitch Stroud, Danielle Stroud Wiggins and husband Michael, Nick Stroud, Jacob Stroud, Johanna Monroe Jones and husband Matt, Gabe Monroe and wife Christine, and Hannah Monroe; great grandchildren; Maggie Jones, Elaena Jones, Iain Jones, Annie Rose Jones, and Carys Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
