John Allan Whitehead, 80, was called home from this life on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at his residence in Roxie, MS. He was born October 11, 1934 in Roxie, MS, to Ray Alexandra and Pauline Farr Whitehead.
Visitation will be at Roxie Baptist Church in Roxie, MS on Sunday, June 14, 2015, from 2:00 PM until the time of the service at 3:00 PM. The graveside service will follow in Roxie Cemetery in Roxie, MS. Bro. Jamie Wallace, Bro. Van Windom and Bro. Justin D'Avy will officiate the services. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Whitehead was a retired accountant from Colt Entergy. He served his county in the US Navy. He was a lifetime member and deacon of Roxie Baptist Church. He was a member and past Master of the S B Stampley Lodge #222, a 33rd degree Shriner of the Scottish Rite and a Royal Arch Mason. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray Alexandra and Pauline Farr Whitehead; and brother, Harold Ray Whitehead.
Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Shirley McMillan Whitehead of Roxie, MS; son, Allan Keith Whitehead and wife Stacy of Roxie, MS; daughters, Janine Whitehead D'Avy and husband Terry of Roxie, MS, and Tiffany Whitehead White and husband Eric of West Monroe, LA; sister, Ann Whitehead Smallwood and husband Carroll of Slidell, LA; grandchildren, Molly Whitehead, Katie Whitehead, Justin D'Avy, and Brayden White; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers are Ricky Whitehead, Allan Whitehead, Dan Smallwood, Tommy Combs, Tony Mullins and Randy Stead.
Honorary pallbearers Johnny Cummins, Dan Ashley, John T. Mullins, Jerry Combs, Julian Jones, Lavon Combs, Billy Havard and David Farr.
The family wishes to extend a very special "Thank You" to the staff of Hospice Compassus of Natchez and his caregiver, Julian Jones.
