John Dixon "Jay" Cloy, Jr. of Meadville, MS died Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Camellia Estates Living Center in McComb, MS. Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home on Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and continue on Sunday, December 31, 2013 from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM. Bro. Tony Mullins will be officiating the services.

Mr. Cloy was born on December 23, 1923 in Bude, MS, to John D. Cloy, Sr., and Iva Adams Cloy. He married Sarah Peeples in 1952 and they had two sons, John and George. He was a devoted husband and father, who enjoyed gardening and spending time with his many friends. Mr. Cloy and his sister Hazel Godbold owned and operated Franklin Furniture Store in downtown Meadville for almost 40 years. He was an active member of Meadville Baptist Church for 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sarah Peeples Cloy; son, John D. Cloy III; and sisters, Hazel Godbold, Evelyn Applewhite, and Marnez Cloy.

He is survived by his son, George P. Cloy and wife Rosanne of Dallas, TX; sister, Stella Smith of Shreveport, LA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Meadville Baptist Church.
