Funeral services for John Blackwell, will be on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Smithdale, MS at 11:00 AM with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Smithdale, MS at 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM. Rev. Lonnie Case will be officiating the services, with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Blackwell, 28, of Smithdale, MS, passed from this life on October 14, 2024, at Southwest Regional Hospital in McComb, MS with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 19, 1996 in Collins, MS, to David Wayne Blackwell and Andrea Denise Powell Blackwell.

He enjoyed all sports, especially football. He loved going to church. He was a loving son, grandson, brother, and friend.

Preceding in death are his grandparents, Bobby and Wilma Blackwell, and Dale and Kathy Powell.

Survivors are his father, David Wayne Blackwell (Jennifer); mother, Andrea Denise Powell Blackwell (Bo); sister, Ashley Cloy; brother, Will Clark; maternal grandparent, Pat and James Etheridge; great-grandparent, Pat Fleming; and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers are Les Powell, Seth Powell, Jim Etheridge, RJ Durr, Ronald Johnston, Tre Fleming, Caleb Harrison, and Jordan Leonard.
