Joe Fields Travis, 81, passed away at home September 14, 2026.

Joe was born in Greenville, Mississippi, on February 6, 1945, to Littleton Ned Travis and Myla Ruth Davis.Throughout his live, Joe was a man who cherished family above all else. His greatest joy was found in the people he loved, and his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.

On November 24, 2011, Joe married Sandra Huff Travis, and together they shared 14 wonderful years in Franklin County. Their years together were filled with love, companionship, family, and countless cherished memories. Joe and Sandra were members of First Baptist Church of Bude, where they shared their love for Jesus and fellowship with others.

Joe leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure his memory: his devoted wife, Sandra Huff Travis, daughter and son-in-law, Paul and Meredith Hayles of Louisville, Mississippi; and son, Les Travis of Plant City, Florida. 

He is also survived by his beloved stepchildren and their spouses, Shawn and Rebekah Johnson of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Dan and Sara Bezet of Denham Springs, Louisiana, Clifton and Haidee Geter of Friendship, Texas, and David and Nancy Geter of St. Amant, Louisiana.

Of all the blessings in Joe’s Live, his grandchildren and great-grandchild held a particularly special place in his heart. He treasured ever moment spent with Braxton and Rayna Hayles and their son, Bennett Ray; Dalton Hayles; and Triston Hayles, all of Louisville, Mississippi; and Cara DeLeo and Lana Travis of Plant City, Florida. He also leaves behind many step-grandchildren whom he loved dearly and proudly considered part of his family. 

Joe is also survived by his siblings, Buddy Travis, Patricia Junkin, and Ruthie Sellers.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Coates Travis; parents, Littleton Ned Travis and Myla Ruth Davis, his sister Patty Sue Huff, his brothers; Ned Travis Jr., Ray Travis, and “Tee” Travis.

Joe’s passing leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his family finds comfort in the memories he gave them, the love he shared so freely, and the family he leaves behind. His greatest legacy is not measured in things, but in the people, who loved him and the generations who will carry his memory forward.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Franklin County Funeral Home in Meadville, Mississippi, with Tyson Windom officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.

A graveside service will be held at North Cleveland Cemetery in Cleveland, Mississippi, with Paul Hayles officiating.
