Funeral services for Mr. Joe Rushing, of McCall Creek, MS will be on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville, MS at 2:00 PM, with burial to follow in the Midway Cemetery in Meadville, MS. Rev. Matt Emfinger will be officiating the services, with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at the funeral home on the same day from 12:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM.

Mr. Rushing, 71, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Methodist North Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born on February 21, 1947 in Brookhaven, MS, to Leon Rushing and Rubye Allred Rushing.

He graduated from Franklin High School where he was an outstanding basketball player and excelled in track. He also graduated from Mississippi State University with a BS degree in Chemical Engineering and retired from Olin in Lake Charles, LA and PCS in Memphis, TN. He enjoyed all Mississippi State sports, baseball, computers, challenging math problems, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Leon Rushing and Ruby Allred Rushing; sister, Marilyn Smith; and brother, Charles Rushing.

Survivors are his wife of 48 years, Margy McGehee Rushing; brother, Donald Rushing and Patsy of Collins, MS; daughters, Nickole Chiasson and Darby of Larose, LA, Jennifer Suire and Chris of Prairieville, LA; son, Mitch Rushing and Rhonda of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Laurel, Jack, Connor, Mandy, Molly, Macey, Laney, Christian, Ainsley, and Eli along with a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers are Mitch Rushing, Rusty Rushing, Darby Chiasson, Chris Suire, Jack Chiasson, and Connor Chiasson.

Honorary pallbearers are Christian Suire and Eli Suire.
