Funeral services for Mrs. Janie Mae Cothren will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Meadville, MS at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow in the Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Elder Tom Griffin will officiate the services, with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church on Monday, January 29, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and resume on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM.
Janie Mae Cothren, 85, of Meadville, passed from this life on January 26, 2024 at Franklin County Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 11, 1938 in Amite County, Mississippi to Mr. Alvie and Mrs. Bertha Jackson.
She was devoted to making a home for her 5 children and husband in her earlier days. She loved to garden, can vegetables from her garden, and cook for her family. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers and plants, feeding her hummingbirds and birds, sewing clothing for her children and loved a good quilting circle. She loved to attend church services and was an exceptional singer. She also enjoyed crocheting many hats, dish rags and afghans, many of which can be found on the pews in her church. More recently she loved visiting with her friends at Meadville Convalescent Home, playing bingo and loved all things flamingo.
Preceding her in death were parents, Alvie and Bertha Jackson; husband, Charles Maurice Cothren and brother, Douglas Jackson.
Survivors are her daughters, Vickie Jane Lang and husband Aaron of Summit, MS, Leigh Ann Bein and husband Jeff of Smithdale, MS, Marla Diane Martin and husband Tracy of Smithdale, MS; sons, Gary Lynn Cothren and wife Lawanna of Meadville, MS, Charles David Cothren and wife Amanda of Liberty, MS; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren with two on the way, along with a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers are Joseph Cothren, Byron Cothren, Will Bein, Ethan Martin, Daniel Cothren, Spencer Bowman, Spencer Touchstone and Thomas Greer.
Honorary pallbearers are Bryant Bowman, Ryan Ming, Logan Wilkerson, Aaron Cooper, Braxton Greer, David Lang, Chance Greer, Alex Cooper, Austin Greer, Christian Ming, Caden Ming, Robbie Cooper, Blaine Roberts, Blake Mann and Tucker Cothren.
