Obituary

Funeral services for Janet Ann Seale Zimmerman, 75, of Roxie, MS, who died Friday, February 21, 2020, in Meadville, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at Franklin Funeral Home with the Reverend Ben Goff officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2020, at Franklin Funeral Home.

Janet Ann Seale Zimmerman was born August 28, 1944, the daughter of James Vardaman Seale and Frances Pittman Seale.

She was a graduate of Franklin High School, Meadville, MS, and Gilfoy School of Nursing, Baptist Hospital, Jackson, MS.

She was a nurse for 44 years and was the first nurse at Franklin County Hospital to be trauma certified.  During her career she was named twice to the International Who's Who of Professionals.  She was twice nominated to Who's Who in American Nursing.

She served as Director of Nurses at Meadville Nursing Home for 4 years, and was Assistant Administrator for Franklin County Memorial Hospital for approximately 6 years.  While Director of Nurses, she was President of Southwest MS Nurse Executives.  In 1999, she was recognized by the Mississippi Hospital Association for serving as a member of the Board of Directors for the Mississippi Hospital Association for Nurse Executives.

Janet loved working with new nursing graduates and enjoyed passing on knowledge she obtained in her many years of nursing.  Nursing was not her whole life though.  She loved to read, play the piano and organ, quilt, crochet, and paint.  She enjoyed painting still life.  She was a loving and generous woman who loved her family dearly and loved with her whole heart.  She was humble and kind and a giver, not only of her love, but her time, never expecting anything in return.  She was the "go to" person for everyone in the family.

Her children and grandchildren were especially precious to her and she spent as much time with them as possible.

Janet was preceded in death by her father and mother and her grandparents, John T. and Annie Mae Pittman and James Mattison and Mollie Mitchell Seale.  She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Nick Zimmerman, Jr.; her daughter, Alicia Nicole Zimmerman Maranto and husband Charles of Roxie, MS; her son, James Keith Zimmerman and wife Andrea of Anderson, TX; her son, Paul Zimmerman and wife Nita Fay of Fayette, MS; one sister, Eva Ruth Seale of Natchez, MS; six grandchildren, Holly Zimmerman McGehee, Joseph M. Zimmerman, Justin Jones, Hayden Zimmerman, Maycie Zimmerman, and Evan Zimmerman; four great grandchildren, Brayden McGehee, Braxton McGehee, Brayleigh McGehee, and Miley Grace Smith; an aunt, Mildred Seale Hester of Meadville, MS; a number of cousins; and her beloved dog, Hope.

Honorary pallbearers will be Janet's grandsons and great grandsons.
