Janell M Thornton's Obituary
Funeral services for Mrs. Janell M. Thornton will be on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Siloam Baptist Church in Meadville, MS at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow in the Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Leon Wallace will be officiating the services, with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and continue at Siloam Baptist Church on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM.
Mrs. Thornton, 83, of Smithdale, MS, passed from this life on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson, MS. She was born on June, 4, 1934 in Franklin County, MS, to Mr. Dan Westbrook and Mrs. Mary Bilbo Westbrook.
She was a lifetime member and very faithful to Siloam Baptist Church. She spent many hours reading, especially her Bible. She could see God's handy work in the flowers she took care of. She loved to listen to gospel and bluegrass music. She was proud of her lifetime collection of porcelain dolls and small bears that she made clothes for. She was a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother that cherished every minute of time she spent with her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Dan Westbrook and Mary Bilbo Westbrook; husband, Barney Thornton, and sister, Dianne Westbrook Bowlin.
Survivors are her daughters, Pam Johnston and husband Pee Wee of Summit, MS, Pat Etheridge and husband James of Meadville, MS; son, Dr. Grady Fleming and wife Barbie of Meadville, MS; sister, Jane Jones and husband Rev. Toby Jones of McCall Creek, MS; brother in law, Rusty Bowlin of Flowood, MS; five grandchildren, Bo Fleming, Ronald Johnston and wife Sumer, Andrea Blackwell and Bo Cloy, Leslie Powell and wife Margo, and Jim Etheridge; thirteen great grandchildren, Tre' Fleming, Carly Fleming, Mia Fleming, D. J. Furlow, Landon Furlow, John Blackwell, Ashley Cloy, Kiele Powell, Seth Powell, Tyler Johnston, Sadie Johnston, Charlee Johnston, and Kyry Ainsworth, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers are Bo Fleming, Tre' Fleming, Ronald Johnston, Tyler Johnston, Leslie Powell, and Jim Etheridge.
Honorary Pallbearers are Timmie Hancock, John Blackwell, Jimmy Bilbo, Dewitt Bilbo, Barry Dillard, Seth Powell, Bo Cloy,Rusty Bowlin, and Toby Jones.
The family request memorials be made in her name to Siloam Baptist Church,
