Funeral services for James Ricky Whitehead will be on January 13, 2025, at Roxie Baptist Church in Roxie, MS. The visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with the funeral beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Hamburg, MS. Bro. Tyson Windom and Bro. Jamie Wallace will be officiating the services with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. James Ricky Whitehead, 71, of Roxie, passed from this life on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center with his loving wife, children, and grandchildren by his side. He was born on January 8, 1954, in Natchez, MS.
For 54 years of his life, Ricky spent it with the absolute love of his life, Carolyn. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. They were the apple of his eye. In his spare time, he spent it teaching Vic, Jamie, and Keith how to garden. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends on his front porch swing. When he was spending time at UMMC, he treated every nurse like they were his family. He touched countless lives with his wise words and profound wisdom, leaving an enduring impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Harold Ray Whitehead, Bobbie Nell Graves; sisters, Brenda Whitehead, Susan Jackson; grandparents, Oliver and Pearline McCall, Mama Dale, Ray and Pauline Whitehead; and nephew, Matthew Whitehead.
Survivors are his wife, Carolyn Aldridge Whitehead; sons, Braxton Whitehead (Jennifer), Scott Whitehead; brother, Eddie Ray Whitehead, Allan Whitehead (Liz); sister, Kathy Brazil; grandchildren, Hunter Whitehead (Emilee), Kenzie Whitehead Smith (Connor), Braden Whitehead, John Devon Whitehead, Storm Whitehead; great-grandchildren, Evy Smith, Colt Whitehead, Asa Smith, Emy Smith; and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers are Braxton Whitehead, Scott Whitehead, Allan Whitehead, Hunter Whitehead, Connor Smith, Braden Whitehead, Chris Higgs, and Barry Tyson.
Honorary pallbearers are Colt Whitehead and Asa Smith.
