Mr. James Wilson Brasher, 98, was called home from this life on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at his home in Meadville, MS. Mr. Brasher was born November 17, 1916 to Mr. Isom Brasher and Mrs. Betty Victoria Cain Brasher.
Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville, MS on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM and continue Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 10 AM till time of service at 11 AM at Franklin Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow in the Midway Cemetery in Meadville. Rev. Josh Scott & Rev. Matt Alexander will be officiating the services. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Brasher was owner and manager of "Brasher's Auto Parts" in Bude, MS for many years. He was retired. He was known as a gentle and compassionate man that greeted all people with a kind smile. He loved his "Ole Miss Rebels", "Atlanta Braves", "New Orleans Saints" and loved fishing and music. He touched the lives of countless young boys while willingly volunteering his time by coaching the "Providence Giants" Little League baseball team and several "Pony League" baseball teams.
Mr. Brasher loved life. He touched many with his smile and personality. He will be deeply missed.
Mr. Brasher is preceded in death by his parents, Isom and Betty Victoria Cain Brasher; daughter, Deborah Kathryn Brasher and sister, Vera Burge.
Survivors are his wife of 67 years, Mrs. Maxine Brasher of Meadville, MS; son, Bobby (Bo) Brasher and wife, Cindy of Meadville; daughter, Kay Scott and husband Bill of Meadville; grandchildren, Jesse Scott, Rich Scott and wife Christy, Tori Watts and husband Hogan, Kate Brasher, and Matt Brasher; great-grandchild, Chase Watts and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers are Jesse Scott, Matt Brasher, Rich Scott, Hogan Watts, Steve West, Baron Jones, Ty Ward and John Ward.
Honorary Pallbearers are Billy Chapman and Bobby Kelly.
A very special thank you goes out to caregiver, Barbara Smith for her many hours of dedicated and faithful service and to St. Luke Hospice and their staff.
