Funeral services for Henry "Carroll" Graves will be on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville, MS, at 1:00 PM with burial to follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Roxie, MS. Bro. Van Windham will be officiating the services with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM.
Mr. Graves, 78, passed from this life on Sunday, January 1, 2017, at Franklin County Memorial Hospital in Meadville, MS. He was born on August 12, 1938, in Natchez, MS, to Henry and Florence Havard Graves. He was a member of Roxie Baptist Church; worked as a calendar operator at Armstrong Tire and Rubber for 41 years; served for 16 years as a constable in Franklin County; was appointed as a special deputy by the Franklin County Sheriff after his retirement from constable; served his country in the MS National Guard; was an active member of the S B Stampley Lodge # 222; and enjoyed his rabbit dogs, hunting, gardening and spending time with his family. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Henry and Florence Havard Graves; wife, Bobbye McCall Graves; and grandson, Justin Graves.
Survivors are his daughter, Susan Graves Jackson and husband Jimmy of Roxie, MS; son, Carroll "Dink" Graves and wife Jan of Roxie, MS; step-daughter, Brenda Whitehead of Natchez, MS; step-sons, Ricky Whitehead and wife Carolyn of Roxie, MS, and Eddie Ray Whitehead of Brookhaven, MS; sisters, Peggy Graves Arnold and husband Reggie of Roxie, MS, and Mary E. Graves Brown and husband Robert of Roxie, MS; grandchildren, Faith Jackson, Jeffrey Graves, Brittney Graves Westbrook and husband Todd, and Ethan Graves; 4 great-grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren; 20 step great-grandchildren; a special niece, Pam Arnold Rushing; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers are Timmy Hunt, Dennis Shell, Chris Roider, Paul Arnold, Bill Halford and James Newman. Honorary pallbearers are Cleo Buie, Eddie Walker, Ronnie Harper, and Al Johnson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cleo Buie for his many years of dedicated help. And a special thank you to the staff of Franklin County Memorial Hospital.
The family would also like to extend a special thank you to granddaughter Faith Jackson, to daughter Susan Jackson and sister Peggy Arnold for their many hours of dedicated care to their grandfather, father and brother.
