Mr. Harold Ernest Prather, 89, resident of Silver Cross Nursing Home of Brookhaven, passed away at Kings Daughters Hospital, Brookhaven on September 16, 2014. He was born in Meadville on January 7, 1925 to the late Ernest Wesley Prather and Mary Grace Edwards Prather.

He was a retired radio officer in the Merchant Marines and member of Meadville Methodist Church.

Mr. Prather was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Esther Spring.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 at Meadville Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Midway cemetery in Meadville.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Franklin Funeral Home of Meadville. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00 am until service time at 11:00 am.

Mr. Prather is survived by his wife, Anna Viola Prather; his four daughters, Rosemary Parker of Brookhaven, Anita Curly of Gulf Breeze, FL, Leonor Lee of Alexandria, VA, and Silvia McMillan of Brookhaven; his two sons, Roger Thomas Prather of San Francisco, CA, and Felix Andrew Prather of Geiger, AL; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
