Mr. Garnett E. Howard Sr , age 91, was called into the presence of his Savior on Monday June, 8, 2015 at Franklin Memorial Hospital. Mr. Howard was born in St. Petersburg, FL on August 19, 1923 to Mr. Raymond Howard and Mrs. Edna Mae Heiney Howard.

Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville, MS on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM and continue Thursday, June 11, 2015 from 1:00 PM till time of service at 2:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Franklin County. The graveside service will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Marvin Howard and Rev. Bruce McKenzie will be officiating the services. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Howard served his county in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was retired from the United States Navy.

Mr. Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Howard and Edna Mae Heiney Howard; his first wife, Alice Carlisle Howard; son, Jeffrey Howard; daughter, Prudence Howard; brothers, Raymond T. Howard, Marvin W. Howard, and Donald Howard.

Survivors are his wife, Lelia Byrd Howard of Meadville; sons, Garnett E. Howard Jr. of New London, CT, Timothy Howard of FL, Andrew Howard and wife, Heidi of Meadville, MS, Ashley Howard and wife Ethel of New Braintree, MA; daughter Leslie Howard of New London, CT; sister, Dolly Bryan of Tampa, FL; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers are Jeffrey Howard, Kyle Howard, Tyler Carlisle, Micah McKenzie, Matthew Howard and David Strother.

Honorary Pallbearer is Andrew Howard.
