A graveside service for Mrs. Frankie Applewhite will be on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in McCall Creek, MS at 11:00 AM. Rev. Cletus Moak will be officiating the services with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Frankie Carolyn Applewhite, age 88, passed away at her home in McCall Creek, Mississippi on June 29, 2026. She was born on February 26, 1938, in Calhoun City. She married Donald Applewhite on November 20, 1953. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church and worked many years as a cosmetologist and pharmacy technician.
She treasured time spent with her family and leaves behind a legacy that will continue through generations. For the past 2 seasons, she has acquired a love for the Atlanta Braves baseball team. She didn’t miss a game. Her favorite player was the first baseman, Matt Olson. She also enjoyed watching her westerns and her favorite of all was “Cheyenne”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lucille and Stanley Howell; brothers, Jerry Howell and Billy Simmons; sister, Kathryn Magee; and husband Donald Applewhite.
She is survived by her daughters, Carrie Gill (Billy) and Debra Zeigler (Doug); five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Frankie’s life leaves behind generations of family who carry forward memories and moments shared through the years.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Arden Hospice for the care, support, and compassion shown during Frankie’s final days at home. Hollie, Jaden, Angela, Bro. Robert, and Jan were all amazing.
