Obituary

Mrs. Eva Mae Purser, 98, of Meadville, MS, passed from this life on May 20, 2025, at Meadville Convalescent Home. She was born on September 9, 1926, on Hominy Ridge in Franklin County to Neal Ezell and EttaV Foy Ezell.

She was a faithful member of Sarepta Baptist Church since the age of 12. She worked for many years at Stahl Urban garment factory in Brookhaven and later worked at Movie Star in Bude.  She retired when her husband, Clarence, became ill.  In later years, she enjoyed her work at the Food Pantry in Bude where she volunteered until it closed. Many will remember her as a writer for the Franklin Advocate faithfully contributing the "Sarepta News" column. If you came to her house, you would find her in the garden, the flower beds, or cooking in the kitchen where she kept her collection of salt and peppers shakers. She cherished her family and church family, but her greatest love was for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Clarence Purser, son Virgil Purser, great granddaughter Kaytlyn Smith, son-in-law Glenn Twiner, sisters Ruby Nell Rollins, Ota Alberta Ezell (infant), brothers Henry Rayford Ezell (infant), Mozell Ezell, Neal Henry Ezell Jr., Cecil Ezell, and Aaron James (AJ) Ezell.

Survivors are her sons Douglas Purser (Laura), Don Purser, daughters Lillian Mitchell (Clyde), Bonnie Twiner, Betty Smith (Herman), and Janice Roberts (Tommy), 18 grandchildren: Sandi Purser Louque (Darrell), Virgil Purser Jr., Ragan Mitchell Denny (Mack), Deanna Mitchell Steinport (Paul), Robin Mitchell Wiggins (Jamie), Tammy Twiner Hastings (Fred), Sherry Twiner Rollinson (Dusty), Misty Twiner (Bryan), Joe Twiner (Courtney), Rhonda Wheeler, Chad Smith (Charmaine), Lesley Purser Collier (Shae), Sara Purser Good, Catina Purser, Derrick Purser, John Buckels II (Kathy), April  Roberts Swilley (Seth), and Christina Roberts (Tony), 37 great grandkids, 19 great-great grandkids, her brothers Amos Ezell (Helen), and Claude Ezell (Bennie Mae), daughter-in-law Peggy Purser and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
