Obituary

Mrs. Emily Clanton Scott, 88, of Meadville, MS died Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at her residence in Pleasant Valley community. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 5:00 P M until 8:00 P M at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Meadville, MS and continue on Friday, July 19, 2013, from 1:00 P M until the time of service at 2:00 P M at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Clarence Cooper (Jr.), Rev. Al Young and Bro. Lance Moak will be officiating the services. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers are Gabe Scott, Clay Foster, Chris Bynum, Grant Montgomery, Donald Clanton and Ben Stroud. Honorary pallbearers are Keith Scott, Don Nash, Johnny Scott, E. Ray Scott and her nephews.

Mrs. Scott was born January 22, 1925 in Franklin County, MS, to Le Roy and Mamie Ezell Clanton. She was an active member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: A. J. Scott; sisters: Annabell Strahan, Louise Cupit, and Seleta Kennedy; and brothers: Leroy Clanton, John Clanton, Lamar Clanton, James Clanton and Dewey Clanton.

Survivors are her sons: Tom Scott and wife Gayle of Brandon, MS, and Raymond Scott and wife Wanda of Meadville, MS; daughter: Sheila Dover and husband Gordon of Meadville, MS; brothers: Oscar Clanton and wife Judy of McCall Creek, MS, Billy Clanton and wife Shirley of Meadville, MS, and Douglas Clanton and wife Carol of Brookhaven, MS; grandchildren: Darla Nash and husband Don, Clay Foster and wife Missy, Brittney Bynum and husband Chris, Gabe Scott and wife Cricket, and Keith Scott and wife Cristina; great-grandchildren: Grant Montgomery, Michael Andrews, Huntleigh and Hayden Foster, Braxton and Latham Bynum, Emma Scott, and Alex and Isabella Scott; additional blessings: Nation Dover and wife Wendy, Monica David and husband Anthony, Michelle beach, Brooke david, Olivia David, and Alyssa Beach and a host of nieces and nephews.
