Funeral services for Mr. Ellis Jerald "Rooster" Smith will be on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville, MS at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow in the Smith Family Cemetery in Roxie, MS. Rev. James Hunsucker will be officiating the services with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home on Saturday, July 23, 2022 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.

Mr. Ellis Jerald "Rooster" Smith, 65, of Roxie, passed from this life on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born on July 22, 1956 in Meadville, MS, to Thomas Wilkin Smith and Willie Mae Twiner Smith.

He enjoyed his morning coffee at the saw shop with his friends.  He also loved being around his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Alton Smith, Alfred Cry Smith; sister, Carolyn Smith.

Survivors are his wife of 39 years, Mary "Susie" Smith; daughter, Stephanie Terrell (Donny) of Eddiceton; son, Matthew Smith (Nikki) of Brookhaven; grandchildren, Graham Smith, Griffin Smith, Gatlin Smith, Ella Klaire Smith; step-grandchildren; Skylar Terrell, Tripp Terrell; special grandson, Jonathan Thornton; brothers, Herman Smith (Betty), Thomas "TJ" Smith (Barbara), David Smith (Sharon); sisters, Josephine Pierce, Diane Russell; special family, Millie and Mark Thornton; special nieces, Jennifer and Jessica Thornton; special aunts, Pat Zumbro, Bess Wallace; and a host of family and friends.
