Funeral services for Ellen P. Buckles Harrigill will be on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Elmo Baptist Church in Jefferson County, MS at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville, MS 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Elmo Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM. Rev. James Hunsucker will be officiating the services, with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Ellen P. Buckles Harrigill, 87, passed from this life on Monday, July 8, 2024. She was born on January 20, 1937 in Franklin County, MS to Mr. Harvey Mullins Prather, Sr. and Mrs. Hannah Elizabeth Lehmann Prather.
She enjoyed gardening, was a lifelong member and key leader at Elmo Baptist Church. Ellen was a three-time breast cancer survivor and participated in local Relay for Life events. Also, she was an administrator at Meadville Convalescent Home for 29 years. Ellen and her late husband, Jack, enjoyed traveling across America. She was an outstanding, loving grandmother and great grandmother. Ellen dearly loved her family.
Preceding Ellen in death were her parents, Hannah Lehmann Prather and Harvey Mullins Prather, Sr.; husbands, Billy D. Buckles and John (Jack) Harrigill, Jr.; brothers Maxie Prather and Harvey Prather, Jr.; and sister Mary Ann Buckles.
Survivors are her sons, Douglas Matthew Buckles (Karen), Carey Allen Buckles (Janet); daughter, Sara Ellen Buckles Boykin; sister Lucy Buckles (Alfred); sister-in-law, Louise (Wease) Prather; grandchildren, Doug Buckles, Kendra Watson, Hannah Hunt, Kyle Temple, April Kehm, Alyssa Buckles, Cameron Buckles, Joel Buckles, Jackson Buckles; great-grandchildren, Annabelle Temple, Tyler Buckles, Brody Buckles, James Watson, Ben Watson, Laura Watson, Anna Watson, Theodore Hunt; and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers are Kyle Temple, Cameron Buckles, Joel Buckles, Jackson Buckles, Doug Buckles, Thomas Watson, Ross Kehm, and Tommy Hawley.
Honorary Pallbearers are her great-grandchildren: Annabelle, Tyler, Brody, James, Ben, Anna, Laura, and Theodore.
Memorials may be sent to Elmo Baptist Church, 358 Willie Mae Lane, Roxie, MS 39661.
