Funeral services for Mr. Douglas Terrell McFarland, of Meadville, MS will be on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at New Hope Baptist Church in Meadville, MS at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Meadville, MS. Rev. Millard Moak, Rev. Sherman Rice, and Rev. Calvin Wactor will be officiating the services, with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home on Friday, April 28, 2017, from 5:00 PM until 8 PM and continue at New Hope Baptist Church on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10:00 AM till time of service at 11:00 AM.
Mr. McFarland, 69, passed from this life on April, 27, 2017 at Meadville Convalescent Home with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 19, 1948 in Bude, MS, to Mr. John Wesley McFarland and Mrs. Hattie Marie Terrell.
Mr. McFarland served his country in the United States Army and faithfully attended New Hope Baptist Church, where he spent many hours assisting in maintenance and construction of an educational and fellowship building. He was employed by International Paper Company of Natchez, MS and retired as an Instrument and Control Technician for the Grand Gulf Nuclear Generating Station in Port Gibson, MS. He was a loving husband and father.
Preceding him in death were his father, John Wesley McFarland; paternal grandparents, Rufus and Winnie Elizabeth McFarland; maternal grandparents, William Pearly and Betty Terrell.
Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Susan Pearl Zumbro McFarland; mother, Hattie Marie Terrell McFarland of Eddiceton, MS; son, Bryan McFarland of Meadville; sister, Rebecca Sue Dawson and husband Kent, of Eddiceton; brothers, Hubert Wayne McFarland and wife Sue, of Eddiceton and Michael Eugene McFarland and wife Mary Ann of Eddiceton, MS along with a host of family and many friends.
Pallbearers are Wesley Ratcliff, Jimmy Brown, Dewayne McFarland, Chris McFarland, Austin McFarland, and Grant Sullivan.
Honorary Pallbearers are Bo McMillian and David "Clutch" Aldridge.
