Obituary

Douglas Cooper Farr, 75, of Roxie, MS, passed from this lite on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Natchez Regional Medical Center in Natchez, MS. Visitation will be on Monday, May 12, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville, MS, and will continue on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Roxie Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM. The graveside service will follow in the Roxie Cemetery in Franklin County. Reverend Van Windom and Reverend Jamie Wallace will officiate the services. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Danny Farr, Greg Farr, Steve Farr, Andy Graves, Randy Graves and John Paul Graves. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of the Roxie Baptist Church.

Mr. Farr was born May 5,1939 in Roxie, MS to Lonnie B. (Sr.) and Ida Aldridge Farr. He graduated from Copiah-Lincoln Community College and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. He was employed with the Illinois Central and Canadian National Railroads for 39 years. He also served as the Town Clerk of Roxie for 39 years. He was a deacon for over 40 years at Roxie Baptist Church, was active teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. He was a Mason and a member in good standing of S. B. Stampley Lodge in Roxie, MS, since February 28, 1968. He was raised to the degree of Master Mason on September 13,1968. He served for many years as a Board Member for Franklin County Memorial Hospital. He was a loving husband, father and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie B. (Sr.) and Ida Aldridge Farr; brother, L.B. Farr, Jr; sister, Martha Farr Bonds; and brothers-in-law, Albert B. Duck, J.B. Bonds, and J.C. Graves, Jr.

Survivors are his wife of 48 years, Emma Joy Lowry Farr; sons, Mark Farr of Vicksburg, MS, and David Farr of Roxie, MS; sister, Barbara Farr Duck; sisters-in-law, Louise Farr and Mary Ann Graves; a niece, nephews and friends; and his constant canine companion, Bentley Farr.
