Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Marie King Casper will be on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Praise Cathedral Church of God in Meadville, MS at 11:00 AM with burial to follow at the National Cemetery in Houston, TX at a later date.  Rev. David Beebe will be officiating the service with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.  Visitation will be at Praise Cathedral Church of God from 10:30 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.

Dorothy Marie King Casper was born March 1, 1928 to Annie Pearl Baughman King and Wilfred Hall "W.H." King in Edinburg, Texas and lived her entire adult life in Houston, Texas. She passed the evening of February 28, 2024, just a few hours shy of her 96th birthday in Roxie, Mississippi at the home of her only child.

Dorothy was a savvy business woman with a long professional career as an owner and proprietor of Casper Motors, Caboose Printing, and other very successful businesses. She is remembered as an intelligent woman who read the newspaper faithfully each morning, watched the nightly news, and avidly read good books. She stayed abreast of new technologies by taking computer and software classes at a local college even after she retired in her 80s.

She was an enthusiastic collector of vintage Coca Cola advertising and passionately enjoyed the International Quilt Festivals and jewelry shows in Houston each year. She loved to crochet and do ceramics, adored her chihuahuas, and regularly supported several animal rescue charities.

In her brief time in Mississippi, she could be seen around Meadville enjoying the public library, thrift shops, dollar stores, and local festivals. She will be sorely missed by the church family at Praise Cathedral Church of God in Meadville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie King and W.H. King; and her husband, John Casper.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Dorothy Marie "Candy" Beebe, son-in-law, J. David Beebe, Jr.; granddaughters Kim M. Beebe Wells and her husband Whitney C. Wells; Kamie L. Beebe St. Pierre and her husband Darryl St. Pierre; Kelly A. Beebe Rendon and her husband Gregory Rendon; great-grandchildren Kolton (Liz) Matthews, Kole (Gabi) Guerin, Kinslei Scroggs, Keeper, Kaleb, and Kaydin Rendon; and great- great-grandchildren Kingston Guerin and Korinne Matthews.
