Funeral services for David Earl Covington, will be on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville, MS at 1:00 PM with burial to follow at Wallace-Lee Cemetery in Meadville, MS. Rev. Calvin Wactor will be officiating the services, with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Covington, 86, of McCall Creek, MS passed from this life on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, MS. He was born on June 18, 1940 in Brookhaven, MS to Mr. Earl Covington and Mrs. Etta Mae Delaughter Covington.

He enjoyed the outdoors and watching westerns. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He proudly served our country as part of the United States Army. He served the 1st Battle Group 155th Infantry Regiment, and was mobilized September of 1962 for the Ole Miss Riots in Oxford, MS.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Judy Charlene Wallace Covington, brothers, Claude Covington, Stevie Ray Covington; and his mother-in-law, Nobie Marie Wallace and father-in-law, Charles Alvie Wallace.

Survivors are his sons, Charles David Covington (Terry Ann), James Odell Covington; grandchild, Carlie Elizabeth Cameron (Kyle); great grandchildren, Joseph Davis Cameron, Anna Kate Elizabeth Cameron, Jameson Perry Cameron; and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers are Joseph Davis Cameron, Jake Winston, Colby Beach, Kolby Byrd, Tony Applewhite, and Greg Waldon.
