Obituary

Mr. Charles Ray Carraway, 81, was called into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Merit Health Natchez Hospital in Natchez, MS. Mr. Carraway was born in Franklin County, MS on March 17, 1935, to Mr. Marshall and Mrs. Wilene McGehee Carraway.
Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville, MS on Sunday, July 24, 2016, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue Monday, July 25, 2016, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville, MS. The graveside service will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Don Tate will be officiating the services. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Carraway was a long time tire builder at Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company in Natchez, MS, and was also a truck driver for JB Hunt. He was a mason in the Harmony Lodge # 1 of Natchez, a member of the Shriners, and a member of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed eating and spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
Mr. Carraway is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Marshall and Mrs. Wilene McGehee Carraway; daughter, Rebecca Carraway; brother, Roy Carraway; sisters, Bonnie Groover and Mary Carraway Lezina.
Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Maxine Nettles Carraway; daughters, Mona Carraway of Bogue Chitto, MS, and Jackie Ashley and husband Thomas of Crosby, MS; son, Mike Carraway and wife Donna of Vidalia, LA; brother, Hosie Carraway of Summit, MS; and sister, Fanny Carraway Arnold of McCall Creek, MS; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers are Allen Clifton, Eli Ashley, Blair Armstrong, Brandon Aldridge, Kenny Estis and William Smith.
