Obituary

Funeral services for Rev. Carl "Corky" Evans will be on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Union Baptist Church in Roxie, MS at 1:00 PM, with burial to follow in the Green Lawn Cemetery in Natchez, MS. Rev. Andy McDaniel will be officiating the services, with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Union Baptist Church on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, from 10:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM.

Rev. Evans, 88, passed from this life on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Franklin Memorial Hospital with his loving wife and friends by his side. He was born in Tennessee on November 21, 1929 to Mr. Martin Evans and Mrs. Effie Evans.

He surrendered to the ministry and was ordained at Lake St. John Community Baptist Church on July 15, 1984. He followed that call by pastoring Elmo Baptist Church and Union Baptist Church. He was instrumental in starting building programs everywhere he ministered. He influenced countless numbers of people with his dedicated witness and love for his savior, Jesus Christ.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Martin Evans and Effie Evans; wife, Jewell Evans; brothers, Herschel Evans and Buford Evans.

Survivors are his wife of 26 years, Mable Evans; sister Mabel McDowel and step-daughter, Jane Welch.

The family request memorials be made in his name to Union Baptist Church Building Program at P.O. Box 87, Roxie, MS 39661.

Pallbearers are Bruce Stien, Jim Moulder, Billy Martin, Jr, Scott Brumfield, Andrew Jackson and Jacob McDaniel.

Honorary pallbearers are Dennis McDaniel and Malcolm Whitehead.
