Funeral services for Mr. Calvin Reese Smith, Jr. will be on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville, MS at 3:00 PM, with burial to follow in the Midway Cemetery in Meadville, MS. Rev. Tony Mullins will be officiating the services, with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home on Sunday, September 26, 2021 from 1:00 PM until the service at 3:00 PM.

Mr. Calvin Reese Smith, Jr, 70, of Meadville, passed from this life on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. He was born on July 31, 1951 in Franklin County, MS to Calvin Reese Smith, Sr. and Gladys Marie Ratcliff Smith.

Junior, as everyone knew him, loved people and he loved his country. He served our country in the United States army retiring after 22 years of service. He was known by many as the "UPS" man having spent 30 years as a driver for UPS. He loved sports and was a great entertainer with groups of people. He had a way of making people laugh at his jokes and stories.

He loved his family and loved to spend time with them, especially his grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Calvin Reese Smith, Sr. and Gladys Marie Ratcliff Smith.

Survivors are his wife of 47 years, Shirley Ann Smith; daughter, Chasity Smith and husband, Ken; brother, Wesley Ratcliff and wife, Willie Faye; sisters; Vicky Laird, Shirley Arnold and husband, Ronald, Paulette Mullins and husband, Tony; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren,  and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers are Reese Brocato, Manson Smallwood, Dusty Matthews, Cade Cangemi, Ken Smith, and Tommy Smallwood.

Honorary pallbearers are Spencer Smallwood, Cal Ray, Matthew Smith, and Clay Smallwood.
